Yellow Bag Weekend

Hello Forever21 sale, thank you for giving me a little bonus to smile about this week! Although it was hard to find my size by the time I got there (I went there yesterday, since I had a talk on Friday), but it's not like I went out empty-handed.

These bags were tempting.

Accessories were like a candy buffet! I think I spent a good chunk of my time here looking at very unique earrings, the only piece of jewelry that's a staple to me next to a watch.

I behaved this time, still walking out with my one-bag policy.

Got myself a nice pair of dark denim jeans that finally fit me well and a couple of earrings on sale yesterday in a safe silver color. Plus a while ago, I passed by to get me a pair of socks since I actually have very little socks. I have more stockings than socks! Hahahaha.

I wanted to get the Hello Kitty socks but they were sold out so I got this cuteums owl printed ones instead. Woot - er- hoot-hoot!

Just the basics for me, but I think they'll be needed to stretch up my wardrobe a bit. We still need more of the basics, right?

Bonding With Avy and Her Makeup Collection

After pole class last Wednesday, I headed off to Salcedo Village to visit Avy. Avy and I share our love for makeup and as she posts her eye-popping hauls in Facebook that are too good to be true (remember my post on her brushes?), they were toooo YOWZA! that I got to see them in the flesh.

I got to Avy's condo and she answered the door as she cooked a pot of yummy sinigang na baboy, which I have been craving since forever. As she let the yummy food boil, she gamely showed me her makeup collection, which were organized according to type and shade.

Her MAC brush belt holding MAC brushes.

Bobbi Brown brushes that she completed.

An ecobag full of brushes housed all of them, these are just a refresher course on the brushes she has.

Avy unearthed a humongous overnight bag full of makeup.

Each tool type is organized into separate ziploc bags, Avy's got one bag for blush, one bag for foundation, one bag for shadows, etc. Some bags are separated according to color or shade family as well, like the bag of bestselling pink lipsticks that she showed me.

MAC's Something New swatch on the left and NARS Schiap on the right. Both are similar shades except Schiap is more matte. See? there is a difference.

Avy's tub of bestselling MAC lipsticks for gigs. These are the ones clients usually like and are perfect for natural and pretty looks. She's got Hug Me, Brave, Russian Red, Cosmo, Satiate, name it with matching backups of some.

Eyeshadows!!!!
I finally see the much-talked about Urban Decay Naked Palette and took swatches of it.

I never thought how pigmented Urban Decay shadows are. Speaking of shadows, here's her MAC mineralize eyeshadow collection

Blush for pretty cheeks.

Remember Wonder Woman? Check out the Wonder Woman haul.

She's got 4 pans of Amazon Princess beauty powder blush. Amazon Princess is on the candy pink side, a really pretty pink blush color that goes with sweet shades of Pink Nouveau or the cool magenta-ish Spitfire.

The darker color on the bottom could be used sparingly on the hollows of the cheeks for a bit of subtle contour. Just keep it subtle as it's still on the blush-y side and not a true matte brown color.

At the bottom you see little organized containers. Spot the plastic bin containing her lash collection! As the sight of pretty makeup got my heart pumping, it was time for us to eat. Avy fed me well with her recipe of pork sinigang that she cooked from scratch. As we were eating, our topic on makeup switched to food and our food choices, which I discovered we had a lot in common. We both shared our favorite recipes, favorite food channels (we both love AFC and adore Laura Calder and License to Grill and we both get upset on the fact that we don't have an oven to bake food and pastries), and food finds. After being served smoked cheese, I wanted to draft out a smoked cheese sandwich or pasta recipe. Anyway, more on the food stuff later.
As a wrapup, Avy made fruit salad, not using fruit from the can but fresh fruit she sliced and peeled herself - kiwi, peaches, nectarines, and strawberries with yogurt and honey. yummm!!!!!
With all the talk on food, makeup, TV, and cats (she's a cat lover too), we didn't realize that it was evening already and it was time for me to go since I had to pack for my shoot and work the following day. Rest assured this won't be the last of our bondings, this time hopefully in my house. :)

Happy Hauls

I don't like the storm and I really wish we had happy showers instead of what we're having outside. I'm praying hard that it remains signal number 1 at least and Juan would exit our country quietly and quickly.

Anyway, just sharing a few hauls I got this week.

I bought a book! It was the only copy left though, an open one, so it probably was subject to lots of scannings, but it's okay. I cover my books in plastic anyway.

This book is a compilation of beauty tips that's not just limited to makeup. It's more of makeup for personal application instead of a pro approach but at least it's a great source when I'll be blogging or doing some easy and light makeup. It also gives a lowdown on easy hair tutorials like how to blow-dry or get the vavavoom Cosmo big hair.

Hands, nails, and feet are not left behind. :-)

Look good and feel good too with spa tips and recipes from Morocco, Brazil, and Japan just to name a few. I like how this book encourages anyone to be sexy and look sexy - and love being that. Another thing I love? It's so handy it fits my purse. I could bring it out to read whenever I'm waiting for someone.

I visited Sophie at the Rockwell Moonlit Bazaar yesterday and bought some Clutterzap babies. She spoiled me with two pretty gifts. :)

She knows how much I love that tiny crease brush from my review and she's encouraging me to use a concealer brush. This brush, I could use too for paint pots. It's like a MAC 195 except the handle's a pretty cotton candy peeenk!

My mom and dad went to 168 a while ago and I asked if they could get me a box of lashes since I'm running out of the photoshoot natural variety.

And what does this bag hold? Yiiii!!! Tadatadantadaaannn!!!!!!!!!!

I finally purchased an airbrush kit, something which I've been lemming for for like... hey a year! Of course I would buy from Glambox (that's the deluxe kit right there) because it's easy to use and it's lightweight. It's so user friendly as well. I mean, I have ZILCH airbrush training but I was still able to use it quite well. I texted Val yesterday asking if she's in Rockwell. She said she wasn't but there are kits at LayBare in Filmore so I dropped by Filmore on my way to Rockwell. So now, I'm subjecting myself to studying this baby. Finally, I have an airbrush compressor already! Of course this won't be my last airbrush compressor since I'll be needing a bigger one when I go to heavy bodypainting.

Looking at this picture cheers me up a bit, and my little corner here is a bit sunny despite being gloomy outside. Stay happy everyone. Let's all pray we get through the storm!
