Purples and Pastels Using Ulta

I feel girly today and I wanted to be pureeety for class today so with a few moments to spare, I efforted to do makeup on myself. I hardly use plums or purples but since my shorts were gold today, I think it's safe, yes. What lips to pair it with? Barbie pink pastel lips!

What's up with you baby hair? They never seem to stay put even with the tightest bun.

Happy with how the colors cooperated. Paint pot of course, my shadows need to hold for an hour (or more) of dancing. I gave the face a break with just mineral makeup though, since I feel my skin breathes more with them when I exercise.

On Face:

No pictures of pole tricks today as it was most of the time a spinning class so we learned and re-learned our spins and trick-breaked with Superman and Scissor climb to skater. I did the 44 on my bad side without me looking like a monkey though, and I managed to try to land on a split. I guess purple can be lucky for me. :)

Pop on the eyes and pop on the lips seem like my look on me whenever I go out. Normally and ideally, the rule has been focus on the lips or eyes and not both. But since I rarely put on makeup on myself on most days, when I do, I go all out.

Lunch at Podium first before my 7-8 pm class. Or maybe that's why I like being dolled up. I have pole. It works, seriously. I dunno why but whenever I doll up for class, I get all inspired to do really good.

I want blue eyeshadow but to make it non-80's, I smoked it up. Smoking it really really up like tsssssssssssssssssssss..................

After lunch, I changed it up to hot pink since I forgot to bring my EB lipstick with me and my lip color faded with all the food I ate (happy to have appetite again). It was raining by 4 pm so I decided to go ahead and cab it from Podium to Pearl Drive to avoid the stress of being late. At least I could pre-warm up before class.

And speaking of glam, bought a new pair of shorts yesterday, this time in KSP plummy sparkly violet. My friend Jane sells cute shorts for pole or yoga and she could even custom-make shorts by taking your measurements.

Purple and sparkly! Reserving this for a shoot or another show!!!!!! Or the heck with it, class. Why not be fabulous in class right? I love the fact that I'm in a class that encourages girls to dress up, put on makeup, and look really pretty.

Heavy Cat Eyes + Hot Pink Lips (and how I remove all that)

Giving my winged cat eyes a break (the one with the eyeliner-hanggang-bumbunan level), I wanted to make cat eyes again, this time smokier, fatter, darker, blacker. And... paired with red lips. This is my first attempt though, which took like an hour on the eyes alone, since with cat eyes, the biggest challenge is to creating the shape and make sure both sides are equal. Strong eyes with nude lips? Uhm. I want hot pink. Wala lang.

I can't seem to get them to smoke up enough without looking much like there's a lot of silver and gray. Maybe it's my eye shape, I think. Hot pink lips go with hot pink lipliner.

I certainly used a lot of black eyeshadow that day!

A strong and dark makeup would go well with big spiky falsies on a day out. Hmmm... maybe in the next show.

I think I'll try putting the base eyeshadow first before shaping the cat eye so the browbone highlight stays true to its natural color instead of having a silvery gray tinge to the supposedly champagne-y color it has. Anyway, this cat eye is just for practice. Maybe I'll try it out Wednesday come Sensual Grooves class time, yes as I'll be out of town tomorrow. Or whattheheck later!

And what I use to remove this, since this is such a heavy color and I used three pain-to-remove products (paint pot, smudge pot, and kohl eyeliner)? Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover! I swear, I'm so glad they invented this or else I'll be having wrinkles now.

I get this usually as hand-me-downs from my mom since she loves Clinique skin care and when she gets the GWPs when she purchases her favorite moisturizer, I get the cute purple bottles since she doesn't use them anyway. Yay! I think I have about 5 travel size bottles of this. It's so ironic because I have adverse reactions to skin care products of Clinique (but not the makeup, since I use their eyeshadow and mascara) but not this one. In fact, my eyes love it.

The fact that it's so easy to use I'll show it to you in simple steps. Step 1: You see that there's a barrier separating the oil part from the water part? You have to shake the bottle well before using. Step 2: Dispense a good amount on a cotton pad. Not too much to soak it wet, but just enough. Step 3: Gently press the cotton pad on (closed) eye just to get the product in. I wiggle this a bit sometimes so I get the makeup to loosen up. Not too hard to poke your eye out. Be sure not to get product inside the eye. That can sting, so keep the eye shut. Once there's product on the lid, wipe eye area gently with the cotton pad until it's clean.

My right eye has no more makeup as compared to my left eye. Stubborn eyeliner can be removed with a q-tip soaked in makeup remover. The makeup's all in the pad almost effortlessly. The lids are a bit oily after though, from the oil so after removing the makeup, cleanse face with your favorite makeup remover/cleanser (like cold cream or cleansing oil) to remove makeup that remained on the face like foundation, blush, leftover eye makeup, etc. And wash face as usual with your facial wash.

Not only did I use this to remove my very heavy eye makeup, I was able to wipe my lips of all hot pink lippie traces effortlessly too, like on cue. I like using this product when I want to remove makeup in a flash since I'm too tired to go through an entire roll of tissue, wipes, and makeup remover and I'm wearing very heavy makeup that day.

Going Smokey Again

I wanted to look pretty for pole class last Tuesday, so here's a (delayed) FOTD and EOTD. Make time, at least an hour, iron my hair, and work those smokey eyes that kind of thing. I haven't had smokey eyes in a long time and sometimes, a line of Dipdown fluidline needs a bit of help too, especially if I'm gonna be wearing a very nude lippie.

It's easy to straighten the hair rather than curl it, to think my hair's naturally curly. It's sorta not like the full face of makeup I wear on shoots or events but just enough coverage to matte me out. No blush, just contour focusing on popping out my eyes.

Smoky eyes usually takes me 3-4 colors, but I tried limiting my colors to just 3 (including brow highlight) to focus on blending.

Gaga needs a really, really strong eye, whether in black, red, pink, gray, or brown so we don't look as featureless. As for my lashes, I wanted to give my LashBlast a test run. Magfeeling ANTM model lang.

LashBlast hasn't disappointed me really. I like how easy it is to maneuver the brush despite the fact that it's a big and fat brush, and even though the angle I took this shot can create a shadow, I could still see fringies of my lash tips. Easy breezy!

It was a good thing I decided to look presentable though that day instead of my gulo-gulo look because Hannah asked me if I could do these pictures for The Wake Up Show

Pretty Sweet Look

Just your regular sweet look inspired by my bridal work, yet a tamer version. Can't get enough of pink, but I want it very fresh, very natural, and very modern.

When I said that paint pots tested sweat and humidity, I meant it, and so did the eyebrow corrector. Big whoop to makeup lasting. But my curls didn't but that's okay. I'm doing a two-hour session today and let's see how I fare when I post my weekly pole update. I'm sure it's gonna be painful. I haven't posted the results but soon you'll see them.

I Miss Smoky Eyes

Lately I've been lazy to wear makeup. But since it was the despedida lunch of my auntie and grandma as they would be flying back to the States the following day, I thought I'd look good too and go with teal-ly smoky eyes to match my teal dress. All MAC unless stated otherwise.

Glad the weather cooperated as well and didn't make my hair mushroom up or make the makeup melt. I really missed wearing makeup though and I miss the time I actually had time and energy to put makeup on myself. Oh, and my skin actually feels so much better after my diet. I thought I'd keep it for a while though, yet I really miss the French Fries I used to down everyday. Maybe I could do a few cheat days because yes, I do food reviews too. I promise I'll work out.

And speaking of working out, I've been doing and following Tara Stiles' Yoga for Weight loss for a few weeks now. The girl's done wonders for my arms though and my back, but more of that later.

Purple Smoke and Bronzed Skin - MAC Guest Artist FOTD

If you've passed by the MAC store at Glorietta this week and noticed a girl who looks like me doing the makeovers and all as an addition to the MAC staff... well... that's me. :) Hehehehe. I've guested at MAC Makati since Monday and today's the last day for this week that I'm guesting. I kinda miss it now. I miss the counter right now I wanna go back there again tomorrow. Guesting there at MAC is hard work but it's so much fun especially for me since I love makeup. Time flies so fast and I'm glad I'm given opportunities like this since I get to meet a lot of people and do things I like to do and being surrounded with my favorite stuff in the world. It's no secret that I have a lot of favorite brands, and MAC is one, being a client and fan of it for so long. I get to fall in love with it both as a consumer/client and as part of the MAC staff. I get to learn new techniques on how to maximize a product and to fall in love with new things. During my first stint there, I fell in love with the brush cleaner and cleanse-off oil. Now, I love the Lightful line and I learned how to maximize the Mineralize line.

Anyway, I did a different look today. I didn't just go super smoky and wear nude lips but I also did body-bronzing, so I was slightly sunkissed today.

For the eyes, I went for smoky purple eyes and I would like to share that look today:

FACE:
After cleansing and moisturizing and applying primer ( Prep+Prime Skin), I applied Select Cover-Up in NW30 on my undereye area and Studio Finish Concealer in NC35 to even out my skin. For foundation, I want to look noticeably darker so I combined Select Sheer liquid foundation in NC42 and Mineralize Satinfinish liquid foundation in NC 35 and brushed this on my skin with a foundation brush. I set this with a mixture of MAC Mineralize loose powder foundation in Medium and a tad of Medium Dark and brushed this on my face with a foundation brush and set and blend it with a 187 brush. I contoured with Mineralize Skinfinish powder in Dark with a 168 brush and highlighted with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish powder in Medium.

BROWS:

I lined my brows with Espresso and set it with brow set in Girl Boy.

CHEEKS:

For a 3-d look, I used a 168 brush to apply blush in Peachykeen on the apples of my cheeks. For highlight, I used the pink and peach combo of the Mineralize Skinfinish in Triple Fusion (Colour Craft collection) and highlighted the cheekbone and temple with the gold side of the same compact.

EYES:

After priming the lids with Prep+Prime eye in Light and Cream Color Base in Shell, I used the lighter color of Play On Plums Mineralize Eyeshadow (Duo) for the lid color and Shroom for the browbone.

I contoured my crease with the purple side of the same eyeshadow (Play On Plums) and blended this well. For more definition, I contoured the outer crease with Beauty Marked and defined the outer corner with Carbon. I lined my eyes with Smolder Eye Kohl and set this with Carbon and Beauty Marked to add shine. Technakohl in Graphblack to add more definition. Inner waterline was lined with Eye Kohl in Fascinating.

For the lashes, I used Prep+Prime Lash to give lashes extra boost followed by Zoom Lash in Zoomblack and Pro Lash in Coal Black.

LIPS:

Spice lipliner to line lips and filled in. Two possible lipcolors are Half and Half and Viva Glam II.

BODY BRONZING

I prepped my skin with Strobe Cream and then applied Skinsheen Leg Spray in Dark and dusted this with Iridescent Powder in Golden Bronze.

My Green-and-Lilac EOTD using my Baxi Shadows

Just a few weeks ago, I saw a pallete of Baxi eyeshadows and 2 blushers and after finding out how super pigmented they are got myself one (At Php100.00 a pop. ha!)

Since I'll be heading off for a shoot in a few minutes, I thought I'd share first my EOTD using my super inexpensive and super colorful Baxi shadows.

So here's the guide:

Basically I just used colors marked 1, 2, and 3. For the others, though, I did incorporate a bit of other makeup. :)

So here's how to do it:

I applied concealer on areas that need evening out and buffed mineral foundation on my face and set it with Setting Powder.

Groomed and defined brows and tightlined my eyes with dark brown eyeliner.

Then, I lined my upper eyelids with black kohl pencil and smudged this up to the crease for a smoky effect and also to act as a base (im going for colorful smokey eyes here)

On inner upper lid, I dabbed color #1 and blended this through halfway.

On inner lower lid is color #3, and i blended this halfway.

On outer upper lid, I dabbed in color #2. I blended where the two colors meet (a defined boundary is yucky) and also up towards the crease. I blended this so it does not look like a stroke of color. I also swept color #2 on the lower outer lashline to act as a drop shadow.

Finally, I highlighted the ball of the lid with a shimmery green loose powder eyeshadow (you can use your favorite MAC pigment/Careline loose powder shadow/MMU eyeshdaow) and BLEND well.

Then, for more definition, I lined my eyes with black pencil liner and smudged to soften. Curl lashes and add lots of mascara.

No blush here, since I made my eyes take center stage. I added a frosty glittery pink lipstick to go with the whole scheme.
