Pretty Sweet Look

Just your regular sweet look inspired by my bridal work, yet a tamer version. Can't get enough of pink, but I want it very fresh, very natural, and very modern.

Thank you for the pool, I have preserved my Bohol color even with flash. Please and hopefully let it be this way until rains pour in.

When I said that paint pots tested sweat and humidity, I meant it, and so did the eyebrow corrector. Big whoop to makeup lasting. But my curls didn't but that's okay. I'm doing a two-hour session today and let's see how I fare when I post my weekly pole update. I'm sure it's gonna be painful. I haven't posted the results but soon you'll see them.

Can't Get Enough Of Pink

Isn't pink such a happy color? It's pick-me-up ever-so-happy color that I always associate it with positivity and all things pretty. So what happens when pink and makeup combine in a gift set, just like the Tainted Love Lip, Cheek, and Nail set from NARS? This lovely box is from Avy's makeup collection, one of her favorites and since it's too cute, I took pix of it.

(Retail price Php 3,350 at Rustan's)

This is part of Avy's makeup collection, something too cute to not be featured. Whenever I hear of "Tainted Love" I always think of the Soft Cell song that's so upbeat and now became sexeeeh when the Pussycat Dolls did a revival. Could it be an inspiration to the all-pink set, the song? Anyway, going back to the Tainted Love set, it's practically enough to do a complete look in a jiffy when all you have is just a mani-pedi and a teensy bag.
(From T-B: Angelika Multiple [LE], Schiap Nail Lacquer, and Angelika Gloss)

When this set says pink, it really means happy cotton candy sweet pink thrown in with silver and gold flecks so it's not all flat and blah. Here's a swatch, too, of the Multiple to see how it looks on our skin.

The famous pink NARS Schiap lippie has one for nails and if you already have the lippie, put the Angelika gloss on top for more pink power. The Multiple actually on its own is enough for creamy pretty color for lips, cheeks, and eyes. It functions like a slight lip color, a cream eyeshadow, and cream blush. For our humidity though, I'd still recommend using the Multiple only on the lips and cheeks as the creamy formula could be prone to creasing. The Angelika Multiple is a really gentle but sweet pink on the skin. Since it's summer, you could hammer the color in place with a quick dusting of loose powder to set.

Summer's a great way to experiment with fun and fruity colors, so a popping sweet candy pink scheme could be one way of getting the summer vibe on. Wear it with a fresh lime green swimwear or tank top for a very fresh summer look!

Felicia's Grad Party

When asked if I have a standard template of makeup, I say, well, sort of. I'll put it this way: I have some sort of a template, but I always adjust to the person I'm doing makeup on. Take note the makeup I did on Felicia last Friday for her graduation party.

Last year, I did the makeup of Felicia's older sister, Patricia for her prom and graduation ball. These girls were recommended to me by their cousin Touie, who's been my client for around 3 years already. Felicia would be graduating from grade 7 and like all graduating batches, they have their annual grad ball.

The theme was Hollywood glam, which means dress up like a star. At the time I was texting with Felicia's mom, I was watching the Oscars, so it was perfect time to get some pegs. Since Felicia was only 13, I told her mom, Tita May, that I'll go fresh and light with the colors since I didn't want Felicia to look to old and I want the makeup age-appropriate. Since she was wearing a dress in a combination of black and colored blue (bought off-the-rack but revamped by Felicia's lola) I went for a fresh, youthful pink scheme. However, I do understand that pink would be too babyish so I went for something in-between by adding taupe and brown so it doesn't look too grownup either. I was inspired by Emma Watson's look during the Christmas Ball in Harry Potter series where she just had her hair half-up, half-down with just very natural and pretty colors. In my case, I had a bit of pink to brighten the whole look.

Prior to makeup, I set her hair in hot rollers. Felicia has really thick hair, so I used up all of the rollers 3/4 of the way, and just used hot curling iron then pin-curled the bottom part so that all sections are curled. For skincare, I chose really mild products, specifically organic products that are safe for any skin type. She has really great skin to begin with, and I'd like to keep it at that.

For her eyes, I used a satiny pale pink on the lids and contoured the crease with a bit of soft salmon pink, taupe, and plum. I really avoided black since I wanted to open the eyes and make them look bright instead of drowning them in a sea of blacks and navy colors. As usual, I went for a Barbie pink color.

Here's a closer detail on her whole look, as you could see, she had large eyes to begin with with lush lashes so I skipped false eyelashes. As soon as I let the curls down, I styled it in a half-up half-down do.

Another picture with her smiling :) See how the lips just pop out, brightening the face? The curls would eventually loosen up in the end, creating soft waves instead of making it look Goldilocks-like.

Here's her Ate Patricia helping her out with body sparkles. Oops, forgot to put flash here and since she was working, she was moving so the picture came out blurry.

Hope Felicia had fun on her graduation party!

Fresh-Faced Face of the Day

Ladies and gentlemen, I decided to be a girl yesterday when I went out. So I decided to immortalize that I, in fact, have two X chromosomes and take pictures:
See told you how pink makes me look fresher. I actually look like I'm a nice and harmless person.

On face:
Maybelline Aquagel foundation in Sand
MAC Studioperfect foundation in NC30
MAC Studiofinish foundation in Nc30
MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Rocks

On eyes:
Paul and Joe eyebrow pencil in #4 topped with MAC charcoal brown
Smashbox e/s in smashing starlit
MAC e/s in mineral on crease
Stila smudge pot in Little Black Dress

*Here I used white fluidline as a base, just to have something to hold on to and finally make use of the white fluidline I have sitting there.

On Lips:
Ever Bilena Matte lipstick in Off Beat Pink topped with
MAC lipstick in Fun Fun.
*Seriously. These EB matte lipsticks are addicting. They may not be the yummiest but they are rocking definitely. I bought another one a while ago.

I intentionally skipped mascara because I wanted to give my lashes a break from all the curling and mascara wiggling. It's pretty tempting to just go barefaced now since I would rather spend time sleeping or working out. However, I needed to look like a girl today since I had an event to go to.

The hair, I might say, I used a straightening iron to create the curls. Curling my hair that way makes it hold more than a curling iron.

I'll be off to work in a jiffy now. I'll see you guys soon!

Playing With My Brows By Making them Pink

Hello, my name is Bambi and I sported smoky eyes today. Oh yes, your eyes are not fooling you when there's a slight red tint on my brows. They're pink.

Here's a cam phone picture with flash to show that they are indeed pink. Nevermind the wide forehead and ghostly effect. The ghostly effect is due to Lightful's high SPF.

Browsing through face charts at the MAC website, I thought I'd have fun at the end of my shift with pink brows from the Lady Gaga face chart. Wearable-if-you dare is what I might call it. I used Pink Nouveau and Sushiflower to create the brow. Since I do not have blond eyebrows to begin with, you see a bit of my natural brow color through, but it's pink nevertheless.

To go with my pink brows, I opted for heavy smoky eyes, a combination of idol eyes, carbon, and black tied eyeshadows. My brow highlight was kept matte, so I chose brule. I intentionally skipped blush and contoured my cheeks with Dark MSF. Lips were a light pink. That's All Styled Up from MAC's In the Groove collection.

I call this my semi-avante garde look. :) As usual, my inspiration is always Lady Gaga whenever I go outlandish with my makeup.
